Muscle Relaxers For
Spinal Disc Pain:
Side Effects

I’ve created a chart below that shows the side effects of the Muscle Relaxers we discussed previously. I thought this would be easier because you’ll notice that a lot of the side effects are the same. In order for this chart to fit on the page, I had to abbreviate the names of the medications, so here is the key:

If you are taking any of these medications and you think you are experiencing one of the side effects listed below, you should discuss it with your doctor immediately. Please do not stop taking any medications without speaking to your doctor about it first.

In addition to that, this is not a complete list of the possible side effects that can occur (these are the most common side effects). Everyone is different and you may experience a side effect that is not on the list. However, I’ve tried to be as thorough and complete as possible. So if you are experiencing a new symptom while taking any of these medications, you should bring that to your doctor’s attention as well.

Side Effect





allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat
seizure (convulsions)
confusion, hallucinations
an uneven heartbeat
drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, tired feeling
sleep problems (insomnia)
nausea, constipation
urinating more often than usual
paralysis (loss of feeling)
extreme weakness or lack of coordination
feeling light–headed, fainting
fast heartbeat
vision loss
depression, feeling irritable
blurred vision
nausea, vomiting, hiccups, upset stomach
chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling
sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body
sudden headache, confusion, problems with vision, speech, or balance
nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay–colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
unusual thoughts or behavior
easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness
dry mouth or throat
loss of appetite, stomach pain, nausea
diarrhea, constipation, gas
muscle weakness
slow heart rate
burning or pain when you urinate
feeling anxious or nervous
numbness or tingling
back pain
increased muscle tone or spasms
sweating or skin rash
