Herniated Disc in Neck
A herniated disc in the neck is one of the most painful conditions a person could experience. In addition to pain, this condition will also lead to a lot of functional problems, because the nerves in the neck control the upper body and arms.
Some common symptoms of a herniated disc in the neck are:
- Neck pain and tension
- The symptoms are made worse when coughing, sneezing, or bearing down to go to the bathroom
- Headaches
- Shoulder pain and tension
- Arm and hand pain, burning, or numbness
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome symptoms (numbness and weakness in the hands)
- Chest pains
- Difficulty breathing
- Nausea
- Vertigo (dizziness)
The most common cause of a herniated disc in the neck is trauma (such as a car accident), but it can also occur due to small injuries that occur over a long period of time. These injuries can add up and result in a disc bulge.
Most doctors will treat a herniated disc in the neck using medications, physical therapy, pain injections, and surgery (as a last resort). Unfortunately, these treatments do not usually provide lasting relief, and many people won’t respond to them at all.
Many doctors are unaware of all of the options available – especially when it comes to natural, alternative forms of therapy for a herniated disc. Many of these options are more effective than traditional medical treatments, so it is very important that you research all of your options.
